The statue of Sam Maguire is opposite the Dunmanway Library in the Market Square, which was first unveiled in 2002, 75 years after Sam's death. Dunmanway Library has free computers and WIFI facilities, library services, free membership and hosts Dunmanway’s Tourism Visitor Information Point.
Looking at the statue, you can see that Sam has letters in his hands. There are 23 plaques on the base of the statue. It is made from bronze. Two authors have published stories of Sam Maguire and both their books can be found in this library. The first is the book “Sam Maguire: The Man and The Cup” by Kieran Connolly. The second, “Sam Maguire: The Enigmatic Man behind Ireland’s Most prestigious Trophy” by Margaret Walsh.
